Sapphire Radeon HD 4830 – Budget Overclocking

3DMark

3DMark is a popular synthetic gaming benchmark used by many gamers and overclockers to gauge the performance of their PC’s. All 3DMark runs were performed a total of 5 times, with the highest and lowest results being removed and an average calculated from the remaining 3 results.

3DMark Vantage Results

At stock speeds both the 4830 and 4850 leave the 9500GT for dead. This is testament to how much AMD has changed the GPU market over the past few months considering the 9500GT not so long ago had an RRP of around £100.

Going back for a re-test of the Sapphire HD 4830 with our overclock applied, we can see just how much this card can really shine. In both 3DMark05 and 3DMark06 the 4830 OC’d outstrips its bigger brother at both low and high resolutions. The HD 4850 is only able to regain some pride in 3DMark Vantage where it marginally snatches the lead back once again.
