STALKER 2 PC Performance Review and Optimisation Guide

4K Performance

Native 4K isn’t a good option for STALKER 2 players

4K has always been a demanding resolution, and this is especially true with STALKER 2. If an RTX 4070 Ti can’t keep this game above 30 FPS, an RTX 4090 can’t manage 60 FPS. Even the best GPU available today must play STALKER 2 with upscaling and/or lower graphical settings to deliver stable 60+ FPS performance.

Thankfully, high quality upscalers are available, and while none of them look as good at native 4K in this game, they do provide great results. Below, even our not-very VRAM-heavy test area sees an 8GB GPU performance collapse. Again, 8GB GPU users need to lower texture settings to medium to get stable performance in this game.

Once again, upscalers are the great enablers in STALKER 2. At 4K, they can provide a tremendous boost in GPU performance, and when combined with optimised game settings 60+ FPS framerates are achievable without crazy expensive graphics cards. Yes, the game is still very demanding, but faux-K/fake-4K is at last achievable.
