STALKER 2 PC Performance Review and Optimisation Guide

DLSS Upscaling

DLSS Testing

When testing STALKER 2’s PC version, we used a cutscene as our test sequence. This enabled increased test-on-test consistency and removed a lot of human error from the testing process. That said, it had an unintended consequence: cutscenes don’t use Frame Generation. As soon as an in-engine cutscene starts, DLSS and FSR Frame Generation are disabled. With this in mind, we have used a separate test sequence to showcase the impact on DLSS Frame Generation below.

DLSS adds some much-needed scalability to STALKER 2. Simply put, the game needs crazy powerful hardware to run at native 4K. Upscalers like DLSS are required to get high performance levels from this game with most GPUs, especially at 4K.

DLSS Frame Generation can add an additional framerate boost to STALKER 2 on compatible Nvidia hardware. With this game being as CPU-limited as it is, the boost offered by DLSS Frame Generation is a welcome one.
