Tales of Arise PC Performance Analysis

1080p Performance – An easy 60 FPS for most PC gamers

As mentioned on page 3 of this analysis, our GPU testing was conducted with sub-optimal memory timings, limiting the maximum performance of graphics cards in our GPU test area. This limits the performance of our RX 5700 XT graphics cards and above, which would otherwise deliver higher performance levels.

Thankfully, these performance limits only affected us with graphics cards that could break past the 150 FPS average framerate barrier, highlighting the fact that Tales of Arise doesn’t require overly fast CPUs or memory configs to run at 60 FPS framerates.

The only graphics card that we tested that didn’t keep the game at over 60 FPS was our Radeon RX 480 graphics card, but even then, you have to look at the game’s 1st percentile framerates to see any performance dips. Most PC gamers with modern mid-range or higher graphics cards will be able to handle Tales of Arise’s PC version with ease.

While framerates that greatly exceed 60 FPS are possible in this game, it is worth remembering that cutscenes and some special attacks are limited to 60 FPS. This is likely due to how these scenes are animated.

Benchmarking area

Our Tales of Arise performance benchmarks are taken using the area of Cyslodia shown below. Our benchmarks are 30 seconds in length and are conducted at 1080p, 1440p and 4K across twelve graphics cards.

The area below is the most demanding area of the game that we found across 10 hours of gameplay. Performance in this location is highly repeatable, and graphics cards that can achieve 60 FPS framerates in this area can do so in every location of the game that we have visited.
