Now isn’t that better. 

With some spare black bars it was already a massive improvement upon the rainbow effect ones. Now I understand that we all have different opinions and like different colour schemes, so some of you prefer the original style, but as someone who loves black and orange and also likes the light bar to match the heatspreader, this is perfection. If the Torque had followed the Chrome special edition by having the rainbow effect on the heatspreader then it would have been better, in our honest opinion, but also harder to have seen the potential a little modification could make. So this way round it worked out for the best because the black and orange set off ideas and oh my goodness what a gorgeous kit we’ve ended up with.

As if that wasn’t enough then Cablemod, who supply the cables for all of our projects here at OC3D, including the black and orange ones in the Bengal Rig, provide a selection of replacement lenses so that you can adjust the top light bar to any colour you like, including an orange that perfectly matches that on the rest of the Dominator Platinum as well as inside my system while still having the white LED highlight the orange fins.

All of which means that, as we said in our intro, sometimes the unexpected things are the ones that can really make a difference. It’s not just all about a ‘quality of looks’ difference either, as the Dominator Platinum SEs have tighter timings than the G.Skill Trident Z they replace, so the system has obtained a minor speed boost alongside the major aesthetic one.

One last photo with the side on. The lighting even matches the Maximus VIII Extreme LEDs, although it’s worth noting that to the human eye the ROG logo is the same orange as the RAM. The vagaries of camera technology at work.
