PCSpecialist Topaz Spark R Review

Up Close

As we mentioned in our introduction, PCSpecialist give you all the cables and screws you’d get buying the components separately. This means any future upgrades are painless. Or, at least as painful as they can be.

Accessories

Oddly the little bit of wood on the PCS Aegis case really makes it look more expensive than it is. You would imagine so little would end up making things appear cheap, but nope.

Front Fans

Around the back you can see how many vent holes the case has. The Radeon RX 9060 XT only has three display outputs, two DisplayPort and a single HDMI, but that should be enough for most people’s needs.

The Aorus B850 motherboards give you plenty of connectivity. If you think how many USB ports you need just to run a basic streaming setup, or a hardcore race rig, you’ll appreciate getting so many.

Topaz Spark R Connections

There might come a day when we stop lauding the Instapak foam packaging but it’s not this day. Every system we ever receive arrives in “factory fresh” condition.

Internals

As we always say, PCSpecialist work magic on their tidy builds. Pay £1000, pay £3000, you get the same level of attention to detail. It’s fantastic. Although there are no brand guarantees we really like that our review model came with a Gigabyte RX 9060 XT to match the Gigabyte Aorus motherboard.

Topaz Spark R Overview

You always want as much cool air into your system as possible. With three 120mm fans sucking in chilly air, the Topaz Spark R doesn’t disappoint.

Intake Fans Front

One of the things we really love about the PCS Aegis case when compared to the PCS Prism II or we usually get is the inclusion of a Type-C front panel connector. It might seem a small thing but everything these days uses the Type-C. It makes life so much easier. Although the lower case lettering makes our teeth itch for some reason. Type-c just looks wrong next to USB3.0.

Case Connections

We’ve reviewed a lot of PCSpecialist systems around this price point. The Topaz Spark R offers more lighting than most, with the intake and exhaust fans being as well as the FrostFlow cooler all being adjustable to your hue of choice.
