With the front back in place you would never know anything is different. You know sometimes you see a car with a subtle mod that only those in the know would notice? This Bengal Rig v4 is the PC version of that. Outwardly it looks stock. Only those who know what the SL600M looks like can spot the changes. When you spot one change you spot more. Almost everything has been customised to a greater or lesser degree. But thanks to Tom’s skills, it looks like it was designed this way. Albeit not in a lurid orange.
The mirror panels show off the back of the Palit Game Rock beautifully. Additionally having so much extra reflectivity lets the RGB lighting do its thing to great effect.
When installing your graphics card vertically you don’t want it to abut the side window too closely. If we did that it would negate all the work in opening the right side of the SL600M up. Thankfully, despite being a chunky monkey, the Palit Game Rock RTX 4090 isn’t so thick you can’t move it back a slot. Lots of airflow and a fantastic cooler mean that even in Cyberpunk 2077 with everything maxed you don’t get temperatures north of 70°C. More often than not the fans are idling thanks to the airflow from the 200mm fans in the bottom of the case.
Here she is with the window on. Personally I was delighted at being able to keep the old case. The orange makes it unique, and with my Michaela tribute sticker on the window I’d have been heartbroken to lose it. Obviously there was a lot of surgery involved in putting so much high end hardware inside a case not designed for that. But if we wanted an easy life we’d have got a Cooler Master HAF 700 or Lian-Li O11 Dynamic EVO XL.
It certainly shows how far RGB lighting has come, and how well the mirrored panels reflect things, that all the whites are white. There being enough light to show off the dark corners is further evidence that LEDs are no longer a dim twinkle. Kudos to all the manufacturers.
Thumbs up for a job well done.
