This database listing also confirms that the i7-9700K will lack hyperthreading, making it the first desktop-grade i7 processor to do so, offering users eight cores and eight threads. This change creates an unusual situation where Intel’s previous generation i7 8700K could deliver more performance in selected workloads, with its six cores and twelve threads, though this depends on how well applications utilise higher thread counts and SMT technologies.
Intel’s i7-9700K will also feature a base clock of 3.6GHz, which is identical to the number listed in yesterday’s Coolaler leaks, adding an extra layer of legitimacy to existing data leaks. Previous leakers have also stated that this processor with a maximum boost clock speed of 4.9GHz and 12MB of L3 Cache, which gives the i7-9700K the same amount of L3 Cache as the i7-8700K.
Intel is expected to release their next-generation of desktop processors within the next few months, offering eight-core processors on a mainstream socket for the first time, taking on AMD’s Ryzen lineup with higher single-core clock speeds.
