Now, an alleged Ampere RTX 3090 PCB has appeared on Reddit, revealing a graphics card which features a tightly integrated array of memory chips and what appears to be a new kind of SLI bridge.Â
The memory surrounding this graphics cards is alleged to be GDDR6X in nature, and while the image below clearly shows 11 DRAM chips, there is allegedly a 12th chip which sits between the GPU die and the graphics card’s PCIe slot.Â
With 11 or 12 DRAM mounting locations, it is likely that this graphics card would use 1GB of 2GB DRAM chips to deliver VRAM capacities of 11/12GB or 22/24GB.Â
The graphics card below appears to be a custom model, featuring three 8-pin PCIe power connections. The leaker claimed that this graphics card was a Colorful Vulcan model, sporting a large heatsink and a PCIe 4.0 interface. The graphics card is also rumoured to feature 5248 CUDA cores, which is much larger than Nvidia’s RTX 2080 Ti, which features 4352 CUDA cores.
It has also been reported that there is an external chip on the back of this graphics card. The purpose of this rumoured chip remains unknown.  Â

All will be revealed on September 1st by Nvidia’s CEO Jensen Huang, which means that PC gamers will need to wait for less than three weeks to see the next generation of PC graphics. Expect Nvidia to focus heavily on features, be it ray tracing DLSS or something new. While increases in regular rasterisation performance are guaranteed, we expect Nvidia to discuss a lot more than mere performance numbers.Â
