Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is coming to Cinemas in 2022
Paramount Pictures has confirmed that a sequel to the Sonic the Hedgehog movie is in the works, and it is due to arrive in cinemas on April 8th 2022. Below is a short teaser which revealed the movie to the world, with Paramount calling the title “Groundbreaking,” “Thought provoking,” and “Extremely obvious.”
Sonic the Hedgehog had enjoyed the most successful opening weekend of any videogame movie, taking in £76.6 million. This makes Sonic 2 an obvious sequel, as Sonic 2 is practically guaranteed to be a huge earner for Paramount.
Based on the teaser, the movie will feature Sonic and Tails, a character introduced with Sonic 2 on the Sega Mega Drive in 1992. The teaser’s music is also similar to that of Sonic 2’s Emerald Hill Zone, suggesting that the movie will feature some of the worlds from the videogame series.

At this time the plot of Sonic 2 remains entirely unknown, as Paramount hasn’t released any real details about the movie at this time. The film will hit theatres in April 2022 and include Tails as a character, but we have no idea what to expect outside of that.
