AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 GPU specifications Leak
AMD RDNA 4 GPU specifications leak – Faster memory, higher clocks
Thanks to @momomo_us, we have what looks like finalised specifications for AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 graphics cards. These specifications line up with the partially leaked specifications from Overclockers UK, with the RX 9070 XT having 16GB of VRAM and 4096 stream processors.
Based on these leaked specifications, AMD’s RX 9070 XT and 9070 are RDNA 4 replacements for their RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT. AMD’s new models feature slightly more compute units and faster memory than their predecessors. Add on AMD’s RDNA 4 architectural improvements, and it looks like AMD has some solid products on their hands.

Leaked AMD Radeon RX 9070/9070 XT Specifications
Below are the leaked specifications of AMD’s new RDNA 4 GPUs. We have also included AMD’s RDNA 3-based RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT for comparison. Note that AMD’s RDNA 4 GPUs reportedly feature PCIe 5.0 support.
Overall, AMD’s RX 9070 XT should be much faster than AMD’s RX 7800XT. Even if we discount AMD’s architectural enhancements with RDNA 4, the RX 9070 XT has faster clock speeds and more Compute Units than the RX 7800 XT. That alone should deliver a notable performance bump. Add on RDNA 4’s architectural benefits, and the RX 9070 XT could be a lot faster than many gamers expected.

AMD’s RDNA 4 architectural advancements
AMD mentioned several architectural advancements during their CES 2025 preview for RDNA 4. For starters, AMD referenced “optimised compute units”, implying that AMD is getting more performance from each compute unit with RDNA 4. Additionally, AMD has confirmed that they have delivered “improved raytracing per CU.” As such, gamers should expect more ray tracing performance per compute unit, implying that AMD’s RT accelerators have become much faster.
Next, we have AMD’s new 2nd Generation AI accelerators, which will power features like FSR 4. Furthermore, AMD have also promised better media encoding with their latest GPUs.
AMD has promised a lot with RDNA 4. If AMD can deliver these improvements and maintain strong pricing, AMD has the potential to gain a lot of market share in 2025. That said, AMD will need to deliver a strong value proposition; if they fail to do so, PC gamers will buy Nvidia GPUs. AMD needs to be very aggressive with RDNA 4.
