Phanteks Evolv Series X2 PC Case Review
Meet the Phanteks Evolv Series X2
The Phanteks Evolv Series X2 is here, and it is fantastic
Today, we are looking at the Evolv Series X2 from Phanteks, which we think may be the best PC case of 2025. With its three-way glass design, the case is stunning, and its bottom-top airflow design is well-suited to modern GPUs and all-in-one CPU liquid coolers.
We’ve got an Evolv X2 in-house for testing, to see how good Phanteks’ newest case really is. Does this case live up to the hype, or do things go wrong once you get past this case’s exterior?
We bought a Phanteks Evolv Series X2 to test it
It’s been a long time since we have worked with Phanteks, and not for lack of trying. We have been critical of the brand in the past, but we still believe our coverage was fair. Regardless, we have not been sent anything for testing since. That’s a real shame, as Phanteks makes some excellent products. We’re open to working with Phanteks again; the door is open.
We’ve wanted to test the Evolv Series X2 since it launched. In our eyes, it is one of the best PC cases of 2025. That said, we needed to go hands-on to confirm things. This meant that we needed to put our money where our mouth is.
When talking with other PC case manufacturers, the Evolv Series X2 has become a talking point. We will be looking at some other similarly designed cases in the future, and we wanted to be able to compare those with the Evolv Series X2. This case has a bottom-up airflow pattern and glass panels on three sides. Simply put, we think it looks fantastic, and it seems well priced at £139.99.
It’s always good to get hands-on with interesting products. It’s also beneficial to compare new cases with what you see as their competition. Another reason is that Tom fancies a case change, which means that his main “work” system may soon be moving into a new home. He’s even interested in doing some PC case mods.
Fan, Storage, and Motherboard support
Internally, the design of the Evolv Series X2 is simple. The case supports ATX, Micro-ATX, Mini-ITX and E-ATX (up to 280mm wide) motherboards. The case also supports back-connect motherboards. This includes MSI’s Project Zero and ASUS BTF.
Fan-wise, the case supports up to seven 120mm fans. Up to three fans can be installed at the top and bottom of the case. Additionally, a single 120mm fan can be installed at the rear of the chassis. Liquid-cooling-wise, this case supports up to a 360mm liquid cooling radiator at the top of the chassis. This radiator can measure up to 415 x 130 x 32mm in size.
Storage-wise, this case supports three 2.5-inch drives behind the case’s motherboard tray. Additionally, the case has a bottom storage bracket that supports two 3.5-inch drives or one 3.5-inch drive and two 2.5-inch drives. Note that using these drives can inhibit airflow from the base of the case. For optimal airflow, users shouldn’t use these drive bays.
