Next-gen Valve Steam controller leaks

It looks like Valve’s releasing a new Steam Controller

It appears that Valve is preparing to release new hardware. Specifically, a new Steam controller appears to be on the way. Brad Lynch, a reliable source of Valve leaks, has unveiled a mock-up of Valve’s second gamepad design. This new controller takes several design elements from Valve’s Steam Deck handheld. Including its dual trackpads and overall button layout.

The controller can reportedly detect how far the user’s hands are from the handles. However, it remains to be seen what this feature is helpful for. Regardless, this gamepad design will undoubtedly be welcomed by many PC gamers, especially those who want a Steam Deck-like controller for use with their desktop PC.

The image below is an AI mockup that is trained using images of the real controller. This was done to help protect Lynch’s sources.

Honestly, I’m loving this controller design. As an avid Steam Deck user, I am looking forward to having a gamepad like this for desktop PC gaming. Some games, like Civilization VI, work great with Valve’s Steam Deck. Having dual trackpads allows many traditional mouse/keyboard games to function well with a controller.

Sadly, the release date and specifications of this new controller are unknown. If I were to guess, I’d say that the controller should cost around £49.99, which is pretty standard for a new gamepad.
