Nvidia retires its “classic” Nvidia Control Panel
The Control Panel is Dead, Long Live the Nvidia App
Nvidia has confirmed that it is retiring the Nvidia Control Panel after 20 years of service. With their latest update to the Nvidia App, all actively supported Nvidia Control Panel features are now available on the Nvidia App. That means that Nvidia can now retire its “classic” Control Panel.
The Nvidia App has now accomplished its primary objective, to replace both the Nvidia GeForce Experience App and the Nvidia Control Panel. Existing installs of Nvidia’s Control Panel will remain on users’ systems, and the app remains available through the Microsoft Store. However, the app is no longer supported and will no longer receive new features, fixes, or other changes.

Nvidia RTX Pro users will continue to receive Control Panel support, for now
For now, Nvidia’s Control Panel has a stay of execution for RTX Pro users. Not all RTX Pro features are available on the Nvidia App. Once all professional features are added to the Nvidia App, the Control Panel will be retired for RTX Pro users.
With the Nvidia App, Nvidia claims it now delivers all its modern functionality in a faster, more efficient way. In the NVIDIA app, Graphics > Program Settings replaces the NVIDIA Control Panel’s 3D Settings > Manage 3D Settings screen. All other settings, including display options, are located in the NVIDIA app’s System tab.
If you are a fan of Nvidia’s Classic Control Panel, know that it still functions as normal. However, in time, the program will likely break due to its lack of ongoing support. Nvidia wants the Nvidia App to be the home of all display/game controls. That means that the classic Control Panel needs to go. May it rest in peace.
