007 First Light’s first update is a certified banger!
Denuvo has been removed from 007 First Light two months after launch
IO Interactive have released Update #1 for 007 First Light, bringing new content to the game alongside new fixes and improvements. Better still, this update removes Denuvo from the game, just two months after the game’s launch.
With update 1.1.0, 007 First Light now has two new TacSim missions for 007. These missions are Tactical Simulations, so have no impact on the game’s story mode. New TacSim awards have also been added to the game. This includes three new weapons and a new outfit, adding more potential gameplay variety to TacSim mode.
The removal of Denuvo is a surprising move, but a welcome one. Denuvo Anti-Tamper technology is designed to protect games from piracy at launch, though it is controversial for its performance-sapping nature. Recent studies have claimed that just 12 weeks after a game launched, Denuvo has a 0% impact on a game’s revenues if/when a cracked version appears. It appears that IO Interactive has taken this study seriously.
Sadly, official AMD FSR 4 support has not been added to 007 First Light. Right now, it remains unclear if IO Interactive ever plans to enable AMD FSR upgrades.
Update #1 gives all 007 First Light owners new content and removes a controversial technology from the game’s code. It is currently unknown if Denuvo has a notable performance impact on 007 First Light. Sadly, we were unable to test this game at launch, which means that we cannot do before/after testing.
