Company of Heroes’ Definitive Edition gets a 2027 release date and a hefty discount for series veterans

Company of Heroes Definitive Edition is coming to PC in 2027

Relic Entertainment has confirmed that Company of Heroes: Definitive Edition will come to PC through Steam in early 2027. This new version of the iconic 2006 WWII RTS will celebrate the game’s 20-year legacy, upgrading the game while maintaining 20 years of mod support. In other words, they plan on delivering the same upgrades as Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War’s Definitive Edition.

Company of Heroes: Definitive Edition will launch for US $29.99, £23.99 GBP, and €28.99 EUR, with owners of the original game on Steam getting a 30% discount. The new Definitive Edition will feature all of Company of Heroes’ base game content, and its Opposing Front and Tales of Valour expansions. The game has been upgraded to 64-bit to better support modern PCs, and to enable more advanced mods. Graphically, the game is getting upgraded unit and environment textures, along with improved lighting, shadows, reflections, and draw distances. While this won’t make Company of Heroes look like a new game, it will make it look much less dated.

Other game enhancements include an improved AI, a modernised user interface, grid key support, and optimisations for widescreen and ultra-wide displays. The game will also include other quality-of-life improvements.

If this is anything like Dawn of War: Definitive Edition, this is going to be an awesome package. This new version not only respects the original, but creates a stronger foundation for future mod support and other fan-made content.

Company of Heroes: Definitive Edition is now available to wishlist on Steam. The game still lacks a firm release date. That said, “Early 2027” implies that the game will launch sooner rather than later.
