Xbox teases “A Darker, More Dangerous” campaign with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4

Expect “A Darker, More Dangerous” campaign for Modern Warfare 4

Activision/Xbox have released an official campaign trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, teasing “a darker, more dangerous campaign than prior Call of Duty games. Modern Warfare 4 is setting itself up as a return to form for Call of Duty campaigns, following Black Ops 7’s multiplayer madness and Modern Warfare 3’s poor single-player mode.

Modern Warfare 4 should feature a deeper, more story-rich, scripted campaign mode that won’t lazily reuse multiplayer and Warzone assets. This should be a good Call of Duty campaign, the first since Black Ops 6 and Modern Warfare II.

The campaign tells several linked stories, with Task Force 141 being disbanded and split into pro-Price and anti-Price factions. Captain Price is on the run after the events of Modern Warfare III, and is challenging global threats with unlawful means. Due to these actions, Ghost and Gaz are tasked with killing their former captain. Alongside this story is a full-scale invasion of South Korea, where players will control Private Park Hyun Jun as they battle to save their country. In the shadows is a dangerous enemy called “The Archer”, who is presumably behind it all.

Price is on the run, conflict has erupted on the Korean Peninsula, and a catastrophic weapon of war is on the verge of falling into the wrong hands. The October 23 launch date is fast approaching for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, with Campaign Early Access* going live on October 16 for those who pre-order the Standard Digital Edition or Vault Edition of the game.

Watch the official Campaign Trailer that debuted at the Tokyo Games Show for a deeper look at the elements in play. The global stakes have never been higher, and one wrong move could result in disastrous consequences for the entire world as we know it. This is Modern Warfare 4.

As with all games in the new Modern Warfare series, Modern Warfare 4’s campaign should be a globe-trotting adventure. That said, South Korea will be a major focal point.

For Modern Warfare 4 pre-orderers, Campaign Early Access starts on October 16th. Note that the full game launches on October 23rd, giving gamers one week of early access to the game’s campaign.
