New Nvidia RTX 50-series flagship leaks – RTX 5080 24GB

Nvidia’s reportedly replacing its RTX 5080 with a newer model

Things are changing over at Nvidia. If the latest rumours are true, Nvidia has axed its RTX 5090 GPU and plans to replace the RTX 5080 with a newer, higher-end 24GB model. This isn’t the RTX 5080 SUPER, though this new GPU will likely feature the same specifications as Nvidia’s long-rumoured RTX 5080 SUPER.

According to Benchlife.info, Nvidia plans to release its RTX 5080 replacement in Q1 2027. They also confirmed that Nvidia’s China-exclusive RTX 5090D and RTX 5090D V2 have also been axed. This will make Nvidia’s RTX 5080 24GB the company’s new GeForce gaming flagship.

On the other hand, NVIDIA plans to launch the GeForce RTX 5080 24GB GDDR7 graphics card in the first quarter of 2027, with the aim of replacing the current GeForce RTX 5080 16GB GDDR7. However, so far, AIC partners have not received any development information, only verbal notifications that the development information for the relevant products will be provided soon.

Nvidia has reportedly axed all RTX 5090 GPU models to allocate all of its GB202 silicon to RTX Pro series GPUs. This makes the RTX 5080 Nvidia’s GeForce flagship. In time, retail stock of RTX 5090 GPUs will disappear. Next year, Nvidia’s new RTX 5080 24GB GPU model will arrive. This GPU will sit between Nvidia’s RTX 5080 and RTX 5090.

Nvidia board partners have reportedly been informed about Nvidia’s new RTX 5080 model. However, they have not received development information. This means Nvidia’s partners don’t know the specifications of this new GPU. Will it be an RTX 5080 SUPER with a different name? Will it be something completely new? We will find out closer to launch, assuming that these rumours are true.
