80% of all PS3 games are now playable on PC with RPCS3

Over 80% of all PlayStation 3 games are now playable on PC using RPCS3, and every game is now loadable

RPCS3, the PlayStation 3 (PS3) emulator, has hit a major milestone: 80% of the console’s games are now rated as playable on PC. Additionally, no games are listed as “loadable” anymore, another significant emulation milestone.

Based on RPCS3’s statistics, the emulator’s list of “Playable” games has grown from 2558 to 2855 since January. During the same timeframe, the number of “loadable”/”intro” games has dropped from 104 to 25. This is thanks to recent increases to RPCS3’s CPU and GPU accuracy, as well as improvements to accessory emulation (PlayStation Move and USB Microphone support). RPCS3 also runs faster than it did before, allowing more games to meet RPCS3’s performance criteria for “playable” status.

The PlayStation 3 is the most complex console ever produced. It uses unique hardware not found in other consoles, making it hard to emulate, even on modern PCs. In the past, PS3 emulation was considered to be an impossible project. Now, thanks to the efforts of RPCS3’s contributors, over 80% of the console’s library is considered playable.

Even more games are playable with patches and high-end hardware

Today, 80.02% of PS3 games are playable on PC using RPCS3. This means you can complete them with playable performance and no game-breaking glitches. For “Ingame” titles, playability ratings can be denied for several reasons, not just game-breaking glitches or graphical glitches. Poor performance can prevent otherwise playable games from becoming officially “Playable” on RPCS3. On RPCS3, a game is considered playable only if it can achieve better-than-PS3 performance on the emulator’s recommended hardware configuration.

Many PS3 games have performance-improving patches for RPCS3 (such as “Disable SPU MLAA” or “Disable in-game MLAA” patches). Many other games are playable using more powerful PC hardware. With game patches or more powerful PC hardware, RPCS3’s list of “Playable” games could be much larger.

For example, a recent RPCS3 update has allowed Insomniac Games’ PS3 Ratchet and Clank games to be played without crashing on RPCS3. Despite this, the games are not considered “Playable” on RPCS3 because of performance issues. On recommended hardware, the PS3’s Ratchet and Clank games do not run at PS3 framerates or higher.

2026 has been an incredible year for RPCS3. The emulator now runs faster, supports more games, and has fewer bugs than ever before. The RPCS3 team has achieved something incredible, and we look forward to seeing RPCS3 continue to improve in the months and years ahead.
