SilverStone has shown off their one of their Mini-STX enclosures which can hold a motherboard of the new 5″x5″ STX form factor, which is smaller than Mini ITX.

This new form factor will allow PC builders to create PCs which are much smaller than is currently possible, with many of these motherboards using a laptop like, DC power in power solution and again making the system/ chassis smaller.

Above is a picture of the motherboard that is contained inside the below system, which has a full LGA 1151 socket and can handle CPUs with a TDP of up to 65W, making this motherboard unsuitable for Intel’s i7 6700K and i5 6600K CPUs.

The below case is not a production model, but it gives us a look at what we can expect in the future for these form factors, allowing us to build some tiny custom PCs.

The case above looks like it was made with this specific motherboard in mind, given the fact that the rear and front IO slots line up perfectly with the case, though it could be passable that SilverStone is considering making mini PCs.
