AM4 will never die! AMD to launch new Ryzen 5000XT CPUs at Computex 2024

It looks like AMD’s launching Ryzen 5000XT series CPUs at Computex – Is AM4 immortal?

Socket AM4 is not allowed to die! At Computex 2024, it looks like AMD plans to give their 7-year-old AM4 CPU socket some new processors. @CodeCommando on Twitter/X has leaked what appears to be part of an AMD slide revealing two new Ryzen 5000XT series processors.

On the high-end we have the Ryzen 9 5900XT, a new 16-core AM4 processor that features clock speeds slightly under AMD’s Ryzen 9 5950X. Below that we have the Ryzen 7 5800XT, a faster variant of AMD’s existing Ryzen 7 5800X processor. Both CPUs will operate with clock speeds of up to 4.8 GHz.

AMD’s original Ryzen 5000 series CPUs launched in late 2020. Now, almost four years later, AMD is still releasing new Ryzen 5000 series Zen 3 processors. At Computex, AMD is expected to also reveal new Zen 5 based Ryzen 9000 series CPUs for socket AM5. This makes AMD’s continued support for AM4 all the stranger.

AMD’s AM4 socket has had an incredibly long lifespan, and it looks like AMD isn’t ready to let the socket die. Will 2024 be the last year that AMD released new AM4 CPUs?
