AMD confirms Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition MSRP
AMD confirms the MSRP of its Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition processor
AMD’s David McAfee has unveiled the official MSRP for its Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition CPU, setting it at $899.99 in the US. This makes the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition AMD’s most expensive AM5 CPU to date.
This price is $200 above AMD’s MSRP for the Ryzen 9 9950X3D. This sets a high premium for AMD’s second X3D CPU chiplet. That said, AMD has targeted this CPU at developers, content creators, and other professionals. For these users, time is money. With that being the case, AMD’s $200 primium may not be considered as a high price for these buyers.
Sadly, AMD has not unveiled an MSRP price for its 9950X3D2 CPU for other regions. That means that we have no official UK or EU MSRP for this CPU. Right now, Overclockers UK has listed this CPU for £829.99, which is the closest thing to a UK MSRP that we currently have.

Compared with the Ryzen 9 9950X3D, AMD’s new X3D2 Dual Edition GPU can complete many complex workloads faster. Below, we can see performance gains of 5-13%. Note that AMD has not provided data comparing the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition to its non-X3D Ryzen 9 9950X.

High pricing for a premium product
AMD’s Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition CPU is the company’s fastest and most expensive AM5 CPU to date. To achieve this level of raw multi-threaded performance, users will need to purchase Ryzen Threadripper 9000-series CPUs. That said, these CPUs lack L3 V-Cache.
Overall, AMD’s Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 CPU is a compelling product, though its high pricing premium gives AMD’s existing 9950X3D a stronger value proposition for many users. It will be interesting to see what workloads shine with AMD’s dual-X3D chip, or if users can simply expect the 5-13% performance gains shown above.
