AMD has accidentally revealed some performance data for their upcoming Ryzen 2990WX processor, a processor which is said to have 32-cores, 64-threads and a price tag of $1,799.

Today, Intel’s flagship X299 processor is their i9-7980XE. This CPU is an 18-core processor and ships today at a price tag that is similar to AMD’s rumoured Ryzen Threadripper 2990WX, giving AMD a considerable core/thread count advantage, assuming recent specification leaks are correct.

AMD France has accidentally revealed some information about their Ryzen Threadripper 2nd Generation 2990WX, showcasing a Cinebench R15 score of 5,099. This setup delivers a performance advantage of 53% over Intel’s flagship i9-7980XE, which scored 3,335 points at stock.

Both tests were conducted using similar hardware setups, using Samsung 850 Pro SSDs, 4x8GB of 3200MHz DDR4 memory, a GTX 1080 graphics card and the same version of Windows 10 64-bit.

Assuming this Cinebench score and AMD’s leaked Threadripper 2nd Generation pricing is correct, AMD has delivered a major blow to Intel’s hardware lineup, offering much more value for money than their competition while also providing a performance advantage of over 50% when using a highly multi-threaded workload.
