Why AMD’s Ryzen 5000 X3D CPUs need to make a comeback

We’ve looked at the memory pricing situation, and it’s bad. DDR5 memory prices have skyrocketed, and this is just the beginning. Building a new PC has become significantly more expensive, which is why AMD needs to bring these CPUs.

DDR5 pricing has seen PC builders become increasingly interested in AMD’s AM4 socket. DDR4 memory is much more affordable than DDR5. Moreover, many PC gamers have DDR4 memory to reuse. Sadly, AMD’s best AM4 gaming CPUs are no longer available, and AMD has the power to change that. AMD needs to bring back the Ryzen 7 5800X3D and Ryzen 7 5700X3D.

AMD’s Ryzen 7 5700X3D reached its end of life earlier this year. The Ryzen 7 5800X3D was discontinued in late 2024. Even today, these X3D-enhanced Zen 3 CPUs are gaming powerhouses. Now that DDR5 pricing has made newer hardware less appealing, AMD’s Ryzen 5000 X3D gaming CPUs have become a highly sought-after option for PC upgrades and new PC builds.

AMD has the power to bring these CPUs back into production, and gamers everywhere will thank them for it. It may be a legacy product, but it’s a product that today’s PC gaming market needs. While a faster “5850X3D” or an AM4 version of newer CPUs would be ideal, the PC gaming world would be happy with any new X3D CPUs on AM4.

Do it, AMD, do it for the gamers!

As PC building becomes increasingly unaffordable, PC gamers need a win now more than ever. If AMD brought back the Ryzen 7 5700X3D and Ryzen 7 5800X3D, it would sell. Yes, AMD’s newer Ryzen 7 7800X3D and Ryzen 7 9800X3D are better CPUs, but the price of DDR5 memory has made them poor options for value-conscious gamers.

Let’s face facts: today’s DDR5 memory prices are nuts. These high prices will significantly harm the DIY PC market and the PC gaming market overall. Relaunching the Ryzen 7 5800X3D and 5700X3D will secure for AMD the affordable PC gaming market. In today’s market, these CPUs will sell like hot cakes. AMD, make this happen. For the gamers!
