AMD’s Ryzen 5 2600X reduced to £155 in the UK – One Day Only

If you were to ask us what our favourite current-gen AMD processors were, the quick answer would be the Ryzen 5 series, specifically the Ryzen 5 2600 and Ryzen 5 2600X. Simply put, these processors offer some of the best bang per buck out of AMD’s entire Ryzen lineup, offering six strong cores, capable cooling solutions and plenty of performance for most use cases.

Today, AMD has Scan have teamed up to offer a great discount on the Ryzen 5 2600X, which will ship today for £155. Better yet, this processor also ships with a free copy of The Division 2, adding even more value into the mix.

Normally, this processor ships for £185, and now it is just £10 more than the lower clocked Ryzen 5 2600. For that extra tenner, you will get an upgraded stock cooling solution with the Ryzen Spire, a base clock speed of 3.6GHz and a boost clock speed of 4.25GHz. If you don’t plan on overclocking your CPU, the better cooler and the increase in base/boost clock speeds will be more than worth the extra money, especially if you don’t plan on using an aftermarket CPU cooler. For reference, the Ryzen 5 2600 has a base clock speed of 3.4GHz and a boost clock speed of 3.9GHz.

When looking at Scan’s other listings, we can see that none of Intel’s Coffee Lake i5 6-core processors can match this price, with the cheapest processor, the i5-9400F costing £164.99. This CPU offers six cores and no hyperthreading, whereas the Ryzen 5 2600X offers six cores with SMT enabled. AMD’s offering also features support for overclocking, which is unavailable on Intel’s i5-9400F.
