ASRock highlight their latest X870/X870E AM5 motherboard at Computex

ASRock expands its AM5 motherboard range with new options for enthusiasts and creatives

In addition to its new graphics cards, PSUs, and OLED monitors, ASRock has dramatically expanded its X870/X870E series motherboard lineup. ASRock is going all-in on Ryzen, revealing new motherboard designs for gamers, creators, and overclockers.

First, we have ASRock’s X870E Taichi OCF (OC Formula) motherboard, the first motherboard in the OC Formula series to be built around an AMD CPU platform. This motherboard packs a 25-phase power design with 110A power stages. To boost its memory overclocking capabilities, ASRock has only included two DDR5 DIMM slots on this motherboard. Additionally, this board features two PCIe 5.0 16x slots and a PCIe 4.0 x4 slot.

This board supports fast 5 Gb Ethernet, WIFI 7, and a huge number of USB ports. ASRock also says that this motherboard will ship with a “Professional Overclocking Toolkit”, so you know ASRock means business when they call this an OC Formula motherboard.

Phantom Gaming X870E NOVA WIFI

For gamers, ASRock has created its new Phantom Gaming X870E NOVA WIFI motherboard. It features 23 power stages and 110 SPS units. This board features four DDR5 memory slots, allowing this motherboard to support up to 256GB of DDR5 memory across four 64GB modules. Alongside its PCIe 5.0 x16 slot, it has a PCIe 3.0 x16 slot, a PCIe 3.0 1.0 slot, a single PCIe 5.0 M.2 slot, and three additional PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots.

For networking, this motherboard supports WIFI 7 and 5 Gb Ethernet. Like ASRock’s other new motherboards, the NOVA features a large number of USB ports, including two USB 4 ports.

ASRock X870-series motherboards for Creators and Creatives

For workstation users and creatives, ASRock has created its new X870 Taichi CREATOR motherboard. It features support for advanced features like 10 Gb Ethernet (alongside an additional 5Gb Ethernet port), multiple USB4 ports, and two PCIe 5.0 M.2 SSDs.

For expanded connectivity, this motherboard also supports USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 Type-C, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 USB ports, and ten (6 rear, 4 front) USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports. This motherboard is designed for users who want to connect a ton of peripherals and require multiple ultra-fast PCIe 5.0 storage solutions.

Finally, we have the X870 LIVEMIXER WIFI, which is a lower-end counterpart of the Taichi Creator. This motherboard is intended for video streamers and other content creators. It retains support for a huge number of USB ports, but lacks some of the heavy-hitting features of the Taichi Creator (like 10 Gb Ethernet). Regardless, this motherboard remains a strong option for users who require a lot of USB connectivity.

All of the above motherboards support AMD’s Ryzen 7000, 8000, and 9000 series CPUs. Note that these motherboards should also support AMD’s next-generation Zen 6 CPUs. After all, AMD has confirmed that it plans to support its AM5 motherboard platform until at least 2027.
