ASRock reveals 13% Intel Core Ultra gaming boost with new PPM drivers
Intel’s latest Platform Power Management (PPM) driver delivers a major boost to gaming performance
Intel’s Arrow Lake/Core Ultra 200 CPU launch didn’t go smoothly. The platform was plagued with performance issues, especially in gaming workloads. Intel has confirmed that “optimisation issues” are to blame for these issues and that fixes are on the horizon. However, ASRock has confirmed that Intel’s latest Platform Power Management (PPM) driver can already deliver a major gaming boost to Intel Core Ultra 200 CPUs.
Intel’s new Platform Power Management (PPM) driver, version 1007.20240913 (and newer), reportedly delivers up to a 13.23 in Final Fantasy XIV’s Dawntrail benchmark. That’s a significant performance boost. While Intel undoubtedly has more fixes on the way, their newest PPM drivers are a good start.
Sadly, ASRock did not reveal much information about its test setup or benchmark data for other games. We expect Intel to officially discuss their Core Ultra 200 gaming performance fixes in the near future. Intel said to expect fixes in late November or early December.
Below is what ASRock had to say about these new Intel drivers.
The Intel Platform Power Management driver dynamically adjusts processor frequency and voltage based on system loading, offering more efficient power management functionality. This allows consumers to enjoy improved system and gaming performance.
ASRock Z890 series motherboard users can download and install the Platform Power Management(PPM) driver, version 1007.20240913, from the “Support and Download” section of the official website to easily boost their system and gaming performance.
Benchmarks show that installing the driver can deliver up to a 13.23% improvement in gaming performance1. Users are strongly recommended to download and install it as soon as possible to enjoy the enhanced experience.
Earlier this month, Intel’s Robert Hallock stated that “a series of multifactor issues” caused Intel’s sub-par Core Ultra 200 gaming performance. These issues are reportedly at the “OS level and at the BIOS level.” This means that we will likely see more performance-boosting updates for Intel’s latest CPUs. At a minimum, we expect a new wave of motherboard BIOS updates.
