Gigabyte trolls ASUS with PCIe EZ-Latch demonstration
Gigabyte pokes fun at ASUS’ PCIe Q-Release woes with 100 GPU insertions video
Gigabyte Aorus Japan (via Videocardz) has released a video trolling ASUS over their “Q-Release Slim” controversy. In their video, Gigabyte Aorus Japan showcased its PCIe EZ-Latch system going through the “Ultimate PCIe Scratch Test.” This test saw the company insert and remove a graphics card 100 times.
Gigabyte uses a standard button release for its PCIe EZ-Latch system. This allows GPUs to be removed from the motherboard with minimal effort. Just push the button and remove your graphics card. No specific movements or pull directions are necessary. In contrast, ASUS’ Q-Release Slim system requires no button pushes, but the mechanism can scratch GPU PCBs. While this has never resulted in dead GPU or PCIe slot, this damage is concerning to users.

While Gigabyte didn’t directly call out ASUS, it is clear who this post is aimed at. Gigabyte is highlighting its GPU release system to remind customers about ASUS’ problematic Q-Release Slim system. All in all, this is an easy way for Gigabyte to score points with potential customers at ASUS’ expense.
