Gigabyte’s reportedly working on AMD X570S “Silent” AM4 motherboards
X570S is allegedly a refreshed variant of AMD’s existing X570 chipset, with YouTuber Moore’s Law id Dead stating that the “S” within the X570S name stands for “Silent”. This suggests that AMD’s X570S chipset features lower power consumption figures than AMD’s standard X570 chipset, removing the need for actively cooled chipset heatsinks on X570S motherboards.Â
The addition of fans to most of AMD’s X570 motherboard lineup is seen as a negative by PC builders, acting as a feature that can deliver unwanted noise within Ryzen-powered systems. If today’s X570S motherboard rumours are correct, X570S motherboards will consume less power than their X570 equivalents and be quieter under high I/O loads.Â
At this time, it is unknown what other changes X570S will bring to the table, though it is probable that the chipset won’t bring many other major changes over X570. If X570S delivered AMD fans many feature upgrades, AMD would call the chipset X590 or X590S, not X570S.Â
Several reports have claimed that AMD has Zen 3+ processors planned, offering minor architectural tweaks over today’s Zen 3 processors to deliver users a minor IPC boost and higher clock speeds than today’s Ryzen 5000 series processors. AMD’s X570S chipset launch could coincide with the release of AMD’s rumoured Zen 3+ processor lineup, though this is merely speculation.Â
