Intel launches their i7-8086K CPU – Boosts to 5GHz
To celebrate the upcoming 40th Anniversary of Intel’s 8086 processor, Intel has announced that they plan to release a Limited Edition CPU called the i7 8086K, an unlocked 6-core processor with a boost clock speed of 5GHz and a base clock speed of 4.0GHz. The i7 8086K is Intel’s first CPU to boost to 5GHz out of the box, delivering their fastest single-core performance to date.

During their Computex Press COnference, Intel confirmed that their new i7 8086K processor will be supported on all 300-series motherboards and will support overclocking, making the CPU a higher-end version of the company’s existing i7 8700K, with a 300MHz increase in both base and boost clock speeds.
Intel has not revealed the final pricing for their limited edition i7 8086K processor. To celebrate this launch, Intel plans to give away 8,086 i7 8086 processors at www.intel.com/8086sweepstakes. This link will become active later today.
Pre-orders will open for Intel’s i7 8086 CPU on June 8th.
