MSI introduces new Z890 PZ “Project Zero” motherboards at CES

MSI reveals a trio of Intel Z890 PZ series motherboards at CES

At CES 2025, MSI launched their first-ever Intel Z890 Project Zero motherboards, bringing “back-connect” technology to a new generation of Intel products. Now, Project Zero is no longer experimental. Project Zero is a fully-fledged feature with proven demand. Now, Project Zero has become “PZ”, and it has been integrated into several new MSI Z890 MAG and Pro motherboard designs.

Above, we have MSI’s Z890 TOMAHAWK WIFI PZ and PZ White. Below, we have MSI’s PRO Z890 Z890-S WIFI PZ. All three motherboards move traditional power and I/O connectors to the back, streamlining cable management and making PC builds cleaner. The only front-installed components are your CPU, DRAM, and SSDs. Everything else is ow at the back of the motherboard.

Note that MSI’s new TOMAHAWK PZ motherboards support the same EZ-DIY features as their standard non-PZ counterparts. This includes GPU quick-removal, EZ WIFI antennas, and more. You can read our review of MSI’s standard MAG Z890 TOMAHAWK WIFI motherboard here.

Like all “back-connect” motherboards, MSI’s PZ/Project Zero motherboards only support compatible PC cases. If you don’t own a compatible case, you must buy a new one (or modify your existing one accordingly).
