MSI MAG X570 TOMAHAWK WIFI delivers high-end features at mid-range prices – CES 2020
MSI MAG X570 TOMAHAWK WIFI delivers high-end features at mid-range prices – CES 2020
For the reasons above, MSI’s Tomahawk series boards typically receive a value for money award at the end of our testing process, as MSI’s budget designs don’t usually come at the cost of high VRM temperatures or other significant shortcomings. Meet the MSI MAG X570 Tomahawk WIFI.
Now, MSI’s Tomahawk range is coming to AMD’s X570 platform, moving onto the realms of PCIe 4.0, chipset fans and Ryzen 3rd Gen. With this move will come support for premium features like WiFi 6 and 2.5G Gaming LAN ports, features that are uncommon outside of higher-end X570 motherboards. Sadly, MSI hasn’t given us a firm price tag for their MAG X570 Tomahawk WIFI, though we expect the motherboard to release for around $200.  Â

Ryzen Threadripper 3990X support on TRX40?Â
At CES 2020, MSI has confirmed that AMD’s $3990 64-core Ryzen Threadripper 3990X will be supported on all of their TRX40 motherboards, including their Creator TRX40, TRX40 PRO 10G, TRX40 PRO WIFI, and TRX40-A PRO.
When testing MSI’s Creator TRX40 motherboard (Review Here), we found that the motherboard’s VRM temperatures wouldn’t go over 53 degrees under our VRM tests in a Threadripper 3960X at stock. When overclocking the same processor, those VRMs wouldn’t go over 59 degrees Celcius. It’s Those VRMs have a lot of thermal headroom left in them, making it easy to see why MSI’s confident in stating their support for AMD’s Threadripper 3990X. Â
