MSI showcases ultra-high-end MEG X399 Creation motherboard
Like all X399 motherboards, AMD’s huge TR4 Threadripper socket dominates the motherboard, with four DDR4 DIMM slots flanking it on either side. The X399 Creation is easily one of MSI’s most in-your-face motherboard designs to date, offering support for three M.2 slots on board, all of which are covered by two cold plates that connect to the motherboard’s chipset. Â
Unlike MSI’s previous X399 motherboards, the MEG X399 Creation will offer users an expanded VRM heatsink. Under the board’s rear I/O shield, you should be able to see a secondary VRM heatsink which connects to the Creation’s insane 19-phase VRM setup using a large heatpipe. This increase in VRM heatsink size and surface area should allow MSI to keep their VRM temperatures under control, even while overclocking.Â

While only three M.2 slots are visible on the X399 Creation, MSI has advertised the board as being ready for up to seven M.2 devices. Support for additional M.2 devices is available thanks to MSI’s bundled M.2 Xpander-AERO card, an add-on card which can convert a 16x PCIe slot into four M.2 slots.Â
On the rear I/O MSI has also included two Intel Gb LAN ports and support for Intel WiFi. Across the motherboard, MSI has also placed ten PWM fan ports, three dedicated thermal sensors and two 8-pin EPS power connections. Â

At this time, MSI has not revealed a release date or intended pricing for their MEG X399 Creation motherboard, though you can expect it to cost more than the company’s existing X399 offerings.Â
