Nvidia N1 CPUs reportedly delayed until mid-late 2026
Nvidia’s N1 series CPUs have reportedly been delayed until late 2026 over hardware issues
According to SemiAccurate, Nvidia’s CPU ambitions have not been achieving their expected results. Nvidia plans to enter the CPU market with its N1 series chips, but it now appears that systems containing this CPU will not be ready until mid-to-late 2026.
Until recently, Nvidia has reportedly been facing a major hardware issue with its N1 series CPUs. Nvidia reportedly recently managed to avert this issue without needing to remake/respin its CPU design. Until now, Nvidia has reportedly been aiming for an early 2026 launch for its CPUs. Now, another issue has pushed back Nvidia’s launch.
Based on recent leaks, Nvidia’s N1X CPU will feature 20 ARM-based CPU cores that use a big.LITTLE design configuration. The chip reportedly features 10 Cortex-X925 cores and 10 Cortex-A725 cores. Based on leaked Geekbench results, Nvidia has been able to deliver single-threaded performance that is comparable to that of high-end x86 laptop CPUs. However, Nvidia’s multi-threaded performance falls short.
Nvidia’s N1 CPUs aim to utilise the company’s GPU prowess to create a compelling all-in-one solution for laptops. By merging ARM CPU cores with its graphics technology, Nvidia hopes to develop laptops that will appeal to both gamers and creators. Sadly, Nvidia’s delays will create challenges for its upcoming CPUs.
With its launch reportedly pushed back to mid-late 2026, Nvidia will face tougher competition from AMD, Intel, and Qualcomm. All three are likely to launch new CPUs before the end of 2026, making it more difficult for Nvidia to gain market share. If Nvidia’s chips are released too late, they will not be performant enough to best their competition. That said, Nvidia also need a stable/reliable product to be taken seriously as a CPU provider.
