Overclockers UK staff reveals i7-8086K pre-order date and estimated pricing

A member of Overclockers UK staff called Gibbo has unveiled the pre-order date and price bracket of Intel’s long rumoured i7-8086K processor, a chip that was designed to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Intel’s iconic 8086 CPU. This confirmation came as a response to the retailers who advertised the processor before Intel’s NDA lifted.

Gibbo stated that pre-orders for Intel’s i7-8086 would go live on June 8th, 40 years after the 8086’s release in 1978. The processor is also said to sell for under £400, which is not too far away from the i7 8700K’s retail price of £329.99.

Recent rumours have suggested that the processor will offer a base clock speed of 4GHz and a Boost clock speed of 5.0-5.1GHz, with Intel being expected to unveil the CPU at their Computex keynote on June 5th.

Later in his pst, Gibbo confirmed that Overclockers UK planned to create “8-Pack” variants of Intel’s i7-8086 processor, replacing Intel’s IHS with a silver/copper variant and a high-performance thermal interface to offer lower thermals. Overclockers UK also plans to pre-bin these CPUs to provide users with guaranteed high overclocker (at a premium price). This service implies that Intel’s new i7-8086 processor will not be soldered.

It seems increasingly likely that Intel will reveal this new processor at Computex 2018, with their June 5th keynote being an ideal launch event. This reveal time would give enough time for hardware enthusiasts to learn about the new processor before its reported June 8th pre-order date.
