Today, OLED TVs stand at the pinnacle of screen quality, offering the ability to turn off pixels individually to produce “True Blacks” while supporting a wider colour gamut than most standard LCDs. In the era of HDR, OLED screens sit amongst the best displays on the market, and in 2019 this panel type is quickly moving into the PC gaming scene.

Measuring in at 55-inches Alienware’s latest gaming display is a monster, offering an OLED panel with 120Hz refresh rate support and DisplayPort 1.4 inputs to drive it. Alienware has not specified support for variable refresh rate (VRR) support at this time, though it is likely that this preview panel will feature Adaptive Sync support when it launches.

This OLED monitor is extremely thin and offers users a minimal look overall, only featuring an Alienware logo on the rear, a configurable AlienFX LED light and markings that read ’55’. This panel is a preview unit, so the aesthetic of this display is subject to change.

Reports from CES claim that Alienware’s 55-inch 120Hz OLED monitor will release sometime in the second half of 2019, competing with the likes of Nvidia’s G-Sync HDR Ultimate Big Format Gaming Displays, such as the HP’s OMEN X Emperium.
