AMD Radeon RDNA 4 Memory Specifications Leak

Leaker reveals AMD Radeon RDNA 4 memory specifications

AMD’s next-generation desktop graphics architecture is RDNA 4, and rumour has it that it aims to deliver strong levels of GPU performance within the more budget-oriented segment of the GPU market. This means that we may not see an RDNA 4-based RX 7900 XTX successor. Even so, we should see higher levels of performance for the low-end and mid-range GPU market.  Now, alleged memory specifications for AMD’s RDNA 4 GPUs have been leaked @kepler_L2 on Twitter/X.

Three memory configurations have been reported. The top model has a 256-bit memory bus with 20Gbps GDDR6 memory. The second has a 256-bit memory bus with 18 Gbps GDDR6 memory. The final model has a 192-bit memory bus with 19 Gbps GDDR6 memory. These memory configurations should give these new AMD GPUs 16GB, 16GB, and 12GB of GDDR6 memory respectively. Bandwidth-wise, these GPUs will have 640 GB/s, 576 GB/s, and 456 GB/s of memory bandwidth respectively.

AMD’s RDNA 4 graphics architecture reportedly features major improvements to ray tracing, and notable power efficiency improvements. A recent leak has also suggested that a model with 56 Compute Units and 16GB of memory is in the works. This model is likely a RX 7700 XT successor, and should use a 256-bit memory bus. Perhaps this model has the leaked 256-bit 18Gbps GDDR6 memory configuration?

Currently, it is unknown how many RDNA 4 GPUs AMD plans on launching. Pricing and performance remain unknown. Additionally, it remains unclear when AMD plans to release their new RDNA 4 GPUs.

Hopefully, AMD’s planned 192-bit 12GB RDNA 4 GPU will be for a new RX 8600 series model. Simply put, the lower-end of the GPU market needs access to more VRAM capacity. Indeed, AMD’s current-generation RX 7600 and Nvidia’s RTX 4060/4060 Ti are hugely disappointing in this regard. Above all, we believe that AMD should address this shortcoming with RDNA 4.
