AMD RX 9070 XT to launch on March 6th, one day after Nvidia’s RTX 5070
Multiple sources reveal March 6th launch date for AMD’s Radeon RX 9070 XT GPU
Multiple sources have revealed a March 6th release date for AMD’s Radeon RX 9070 XT graphics card, with @momomo_us revealing it through an early retail listing. The day prior, Benchlife revealed the same release date for AMD’s Radeon RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT graphics cards. Note that this date is one day after Nvidia’s RTX 5070 release date.
AMD plans to officially reveal their Radeon RX 9000 series GPUs on February 28th. This reveal should reveal the performance and pricing of AMD’s RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 graphics cards. Furthermore, gamers will be getting a deep dive into AMD’s RDNA 4 graphics architecture, and its benefits.
AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT and Radeon RX 9070 will now go on sale on March 6, while the GeForce RTX 5070 12GB will be released on March 5, breaking the past practice of launching on Tuesdays or Thursdays. NVIDIA’s similar approach inevitably makes people smell a bit of an attempt to squeeze out AMD. After all, there will be a lot of exposure before the launch, and now that AMD and NVIDIA are so close in time to the market, it is bound to squeeze the media’s testing time and exposure pages.

If AMD wants to gain market share with RDNA 4, it must deliver strong performance levels at compelling price points. Simply matching Nvidia’s price/performance levels will not be adequate. Furthermore, AMD will need to work hard to bring FSR 4 support to as many games as possible. Note that AMD has an “FSR 4 Upgrade” option for games with FSR 3.1 support.
RDNA 4 is expected to be one of AMD’s most impactful graphics architectures to date. With RDNA 4, AMD plans to deliver boosts to AI, ray tracing, and traditional graphics performance. Add on software features like FSR 4, and AMD has a major opportunity to gain ground against Nvidia. Competition is good for the broader GPU and PC market. As such, it is best for everyone that AMD succeeds. However, AMD can only succeed if they can deliver a product that’s aggressively priced and bests their Nvidia counterparts by a significant margin.
