AMD Marketing Guru Darren McPhee joins Intel’s Discrete Graphics Team

Over the past few years, Intel has been building up their graphics team, gobbling up talent from across the industry. As part of this push, Intel has hired former AMD heavyweights like Raja Koduri, Jim Keller and Chris Hook joining the company in recent years, though Jim Keller is not part of Intel’s Discrete Graphics group.

Tonight, we have a new name to add to the list, with Darren McPhee revealing that he has joined Intel as their Director of Product Marketing in their Discrete Graphics group.

This means that Darren McPhee will be working with Chris Hook on Intel’s GPU marketing campaigns, which means that we may soon see an Intel version of Radeon’s “The Fixer”, at least hypothetically.

In case you were not into PC building/gaming in 2013, here is a short glimpse of AMD’s “The Fixer” marketing campaign, which roughly coincided with the release of Radeon’s 5-game “Never Settle” game bundle for early GCN graphics products. Remember the HD 7970? Good times.

Darren McPhee worked for ATI Technologies between 2003 until AMD acquired the company in 2007. After the acquisition, McPhee worked for AMD until October 2015, after which he worked for DM17 Marketing Solutions and BlueCat.
