AMD Working on New Catalyst Omega Drivers
AMD Working on New Catalyst Omega Drivers
Â
Last December AMD released their special edition Catalyst Omega drivers, drivers which greatly upped the quality and feature set of AMD’s drivers while at the same time increasing performance.Â
This driver fixed many of the most common issues users found with AMDs drivers and improved them to such a large degree that my perception of AMD’s graphics drivers were forever changed. Today I would say that AMD and Nvidia have drivers which are equally stable, which is something that I wouldn’t have said back in the ATI days, so the prospect of a similar driver leap this year has me very excited.Â
Â
Â
Today’s rumors say that we should expect a Catalyst Omega driver from AMD sometime in November, which makes sense since Fallout 4, Star Wars: Battlefront and many other big titles will be releasing that month and the fact that a big leap in driver performance may secure AMD more graphics sales around Christmas.Â
Â
Â
Hopefully these rumors are true, as driver improvements and extra performance are always welcome. With the popularity of Linux Gaming growing I wonder if AMD have been working on a better Linux Drivers for their GPUs.Â
