AMD’s reportedly working to bring FSR 4 support to RDNA 3 graphics cards
According to reports from an alleged AMD insider, the company is still working on adding FSR 4 support to its RDNA 3 graphics cards. While no information on FSR 4’s RDNA 4 enablement has been reported, it is claimed that AMD is still working on it. FSR 4 offers great image quality, but AMD is still playing catch-up with DLSS.
Currently, AMD’s priority should be to bring FSR 4 to as many games as possible. After all, FSR 4 will not be seen as a proper rival to Nvidia DLSS until it is available in a large number of games. Thankfully, AMD reportedly has plans to reveal a new wave of FSR 4 partners at Computex 2025. This is when AMD is also expected to unveil its Radeon RX 9060 XT graphics card.
As of now, AMD’s FSR 4 AI upscaling solution is exclusive to Radeon RDNA 4 graphics cards. If AMD can enable FSR 4 support on more GPUs, it would help convince more developers to update their games. Furthermore, it would gain AMD a lot of goodwill from fans and help it sell its remaining stock of RX 7000 series RDNA 3 GPUs.

FSR 4 is vital to the success of AMD’s Gaming GPU division. Currently, FSR 4 is only available on AMD’s latest GPUs because of their increased AI performance. AMD’s older RDNA 3 GPUs feature less AI performance than their RDNA 4 counterparts. If AMD wants to bring FSR 4 to its older GPUs, FSR 4 may need to become more performant. That’s good news for everyone. After all, a more performant version of FSR 4 would make the upscaler run faster on all hardware.
