AMD’s RX 500 series is rumoured to launch on April 18th

AMD’s RX 500 series is rumoured to launch on April 18th, initially releasing with RX 580 and RX 570 GPUs that are based on AMD’s Polaris 10 GPU core.

These new GPUs will not be simple rereleases, but more of a refreshed design which uses an optimised version of GlobalFoundries’ 14nm FinFET process and offer enhanced clock speeds and greater levels of power efficiency. This means that the RX 500 series is not just a rebadged RX 400 series GPU, but an enhanced design that offers more throughput with less power.

At this time it is unknown when AMD plans on releasing their upcoming Vega series GPUs, or if any RX Vega GPUs will come as part of the RX 500 series (perhaps as an RX 590?).

Recent rumours also state that AMD are planning on releasing their upcoming Ryzen 5 series CPUs in a similar timeframe to the RX 500 series, making it a great time to build an all-AMD PC on a tight budget.
