AMD’s 65nm R600 – The R650

Well according to our source it appears that AMD are extremely busy readying R600’s replacement – the R650. Citing both heat and heat dissipation as major factors in the decision, it seems that AMD are eager to replace R600 as quickly as possible.

The R600 chip is simply too hot and it has terrible heat dissipation and this problem has to be fixed. Dissipation of 230+ Watts is simply too much for any graphic chip and any standard.

I must say that I find this revelation, if there is any truth to it, quite amusing. There’s nothing like bolstering confidence in your flagship product by redesigning its replacement before it has even seen the light of day.
