A Nvidia Volta GV100 GPU has appeared in the AIDA64 database, confirming that initial Volta GPU samples have already been created.

This is a big step for Nvidia, though it does not necessarily mean that Volta will be releasing soon, as Nvidia’s entire Pascal lineup was revealed (GP100, GP102, GP104, GP106 and GP107) in the same way in May 2016, with many of the GPUs listed only releasing recently.

AIDA Engineers found this new reference in their database after searching for references to Nvidia’s GTX 1080 Ti, a GP102 based GPU which is expected to release within the next month.

While it is likely that this GV100 device ID is genuine, it is unlikely that we will be seeing any GPUs based on the Volta architecture hit the market anytime soon, especially given how long it has taken high-end Pascal Geforce and Quadro GPUs to hit the market.
