AOC reveals their latest AGON3 FreeSync 2 monitor
We were talking with AUO and they have a new panel,Up until now curved monitors were either IPS or VA, which is ok, but the response time was not so great. Thereâs always some ghosting, some blurring. But now there are curved panels from AU Optronics that allow 0.5ms response time.
I saw this TN panel, they were doing a demonstration in Taipei,â Clemente says, âand the picture quality is probably better than IPS. Itâs not quantum dot, you canât put that on TN, but the quality was really reminiscent of quantum dot. The market has never seen a TN panel with this colour quality. Viewing angles are TN viewing angles, but you donât care about that.
Â
The FreeSync 2 AG273QCX that is detailed below will come with a high-quality TN panel, coming with what is said to be better colour than an IPS panel but with faster response times. Sadly the poor viewing angles of TN remains, though as a PC display users will not be looking at this display at a wide angle. Â
There will also be a G-Sync version of this display which will come with a TN panel type and a higher refresh rate of 165Hz. This display will lack HDR support as Nvidia only plans on supporting premium HDR displays with their G-Sync modules, ensuring a high standard of display quality but also higher price tags.Â
Â
Both of these displays are set to release in the first half of 2018, with the AMD FreeSync 2 version releasing in April for $599 and the Nvidia G-Sync version coming in May for $699.Â
