ASUS adds Power Detector+ Warning feature to ROG Astral RTX 50 series GPUs through GPU Tweak III

ASUS just made GPU Tweak III a must-download toolset for their ROG Astral RTX 50 series GPUs

ASUS has just updated its GPU Tweak III software with a killer feature. With ASUS’ new “Power Detector+” warning feature, users of RTX 50-series ROG Astral (and Matrix) graphics cards will be warned if uneven power delivery is detected. This update was first spotted by Videocardz.

This feature will make ASUS’ GPU Tweak III software a must-download add-on for users of compatible graphics cards. This warning could save users from a melted 16-pin power cable incident. Even in its prior iteration, this feature saved us from our own 12VHPWR/12V-2×6 cable issues. If users are warned, they simply need to turn off their systems and reseat their cables to ensure even power distribution.

GPU-Tweak-III V1.9.4.3 For Windows 10/11 64-bit – Version 1.9.4.3

This update addresses a compatibility issue with NVIDIA and AMD’s latest driver and introduces the exclusive Power Detector+ warning feature.

– Bug Fix: Resolved a compatibility issue with the latest NVIDIA (572.70) driver.
– Bug Fix: Resolved a compatibility issue with the latest AMD Adrenalin driver.
– New Feature: Added the Power Detector+ warning function (exclusive to ROG Astral and Matrix graphics cards).

Thanks to this update, ASUS’ ROG Astral RTX 50 series GPUs are now the least likely GPUs to suffer from 16-pin cable melting issues. Note that this is a hardware feature of ASUS’ ROG Astral series GPUs. That means that this feature cannot be added to ASUS’ lower-end RTX 50 series GPUs. Regardless, it is a great feature and it gives PC builders more peace of mind.
