This new GPU will come with an enhanced version of ASUS’ DirectCU III Strix cooler design, which comes with a thicker 2.5-slot cooler design which comes with 40% more surface area than the cooler design used on the GTX 1080.
ASUS has also stated that this new cooler design also uses their MaxContact cooler design, coming with a smoother surface which is up to 10x flatter than traditional heat spreaders for enhanced thermal conductivity.
Under load, ASUS claims that their new GTX 1080 Ti Strix will offer cooler operating temperatures and lower acoustics than Nvidia’s reference design, listing a 5 dB decrease in noise levels.
Right now it is unknown when ASUS’ GTX 1080Ti Strix OC will release to the public, though pre-orders are already available at several retailers.
