ASUS reveals their ROG Swift OLED PG27UCDM as the “world’s first” 27-inch 4K OLED monitor
ASUS unveils their first 27-inch 4K OLED monitor, the ROG Swift PG27UCDM
Ahead of CES 2025, ASUS has revealed their ROG Swift OLED PG27UCDM monitor, their first 27-inch 4K OLED display. With this new screen comes all of the high-end features that users should expect in 2025. This includes DisplayPort 2.1 support, a 240Hz refresh rate, and updated OLED Care (anti-burn-in) technologies.
With its 26.5-inch screen size and 166 PPI pixel density, this screen gives users a 53% increase in PPI over similarly sized 1440p monitors. This new screen uses a 4th generation OLED panel and supports Dolby Vision and HDR10. The screen also boasts 0.03ms GTG response times and a maximum refresh rate of 240Hz.
Unlike some other DisplayPort 2.1 monitors, ASUS’ new ROG OLED supports the full UHBR20 specification. This gives it support for the full 80 Gbps bandwidth potential of DisplayPort 2.1. Additionally, this screen has two HDMI 2.1 ports. No, this screen does not support HDMI 2.2.
With OLED anti-flicker 2.0 technology, ASUS claims their 4th generation QD-OLED panels exhibit 20% less flicker than before. A Luminance Compensation Algorithm can dynamically boost pixel brightness during refresh rate fluctuations to ensure more consistent visuals without increased input lag.
ASUS has also updated their OLED Care technology, adding a new “Neo Proximity Sensor” feature. This feature detects the user’s distance from the monitor and presents a black image when the user isn’t present. This prevents burn-in by effectively turning off the screen when the users are away from their screens.
ASUS’ OLED Care Pro technology brings together many burn-in mitigations. These include global dimming control, target more, outer dimming control, taskbar detection, screen saver, logo brightness adjustment, boundary detection, screen move, pixel cleaning, and Neo Proximity Sensor.
All-in-all, the ROG Swift OLED PC27UCDM appears to be ASUS’ ultimate 4K OLED monitor for the 27-inch form factor. Its colour accuracy and high refresh rate make it ideal for both productivity and gaming workloads, and its lengthy 3-year should assure users that they won’t need to worry about burn-in.
