Dark Souls 3 will run at 60FPS on PC
Â
From Software has confirmed that Dark Souls 3 will run at 60FPS on PC, dismissing previous rumors that the game would have the same 30FPS cap as the PC versions of Dark Souls 1 and 2.
This is fantastic news for PC gamers, as it means that players of the game will not need to wait for mods or fixes in order to enjoy 60FPS gameplay on PC and that the game will not suffer from animation issues that may occur from using such methods.Â

The game will require 8GB of RAM to play and a 64-bit OS, which is a significant leap from previous games in the franchise. On the GPU side things are a little bit more reasonable, requiring a HD 6870 or a GTX 465 as it’s minimum, “you died” specs and a GTX 750 or an HD 7850 in the games recommended “You Died, But That’s a Pretty Nice PC You’ve Got There” spec.
The game will require a quad core/thread CPU, which is something that is common for a modern title. Right now we do not know if a overclockerd Dual core will be enough to play or even run this game.Â
Â
The “You Died” spec:
- OS:Â Windows 7 SP1 64bit, Windows 8.1 64bit Windows 10 64bit
- Processor: AMD A8 3870 3.6 Ghz or Intel Core  i3 2100 3.1Ghz
- Memory:Â 8 GB RAM
- Graphics:Â NVIDIA GeForce GTX 465 / ATI Radeon TM HD 6870
- DirectX:Â Version 11
- Network:Â Broadband Internet connection
- Storage:Â 50 GB available space
- Sound Card:Â DirectX 11 sound device
Â
The “You Died, But That’s a Pretty Nice PC You’ve Got There” spec:
- OS:Â Windows 7 SP1 64bit, Windows 8.1 64bit Windows 10 64bit
- Processor:Â AMD FX 8150 3.6 GHz or Intel Core i7 2600 3.4 GHz
- Memory:Â 8 GB RAM
- Graphics:Â NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750, ATI Radeon HD 7850
- DirectX:Â Version 11
- Network:Â Broadband Internet connection
- Storage:Â 50 GB available space
- Sound Card:Â DirectX 11 sound device
Â
The game looks like it has also received a nice upgrade in graphical fidelity when compared to previous Dark Souls games, which is something that the series sorely needed since it is now on current generation consoles exclusively.Â
Dark Souls has always been a hard and punishing game, going by the “if at first you don’t succeed, DIE, DIE and DIE again” motto, so this game is certainly not for the faint of heart. Â Â
