Deeper, sharper, better – MSI unveils its RGB Stripe MPG 341CQR QD-OLED X36 monitor

MSI launches the “world’s first” 34-inch 360Hz OLED gaming monitor

MSI is taking its OLED monitor tech to the next level at CES 2026. With its new MPG 341CQR QD-OLED X36, MSI is promising deeper blacks and sharper text, thanks to its “5th gen QD-OLED” technology and “DarkArmor” film.

This screen’s new RGB Stripe sub-pixel layout promises to deliver crystal clear text, but that isn’t the only trick up this monitor’s sleeve. It boasts a 1300 nits peak brightness, DisplayHDR True Black 500 support, and deeper black levels. With a 15% higher peak brightness than before, this screen is much more capable of handling ultra-bright content.

With OLED Care 3.0 and the latest QD-OLED screen panels, MSI offers a lengthy 3-year burn-in warranty for this monitor. With its AI Care Sensor, the screen goes black when it is not in use and wakes when you approach. Additionally, features such as pixel shift, multi-logo detection, taskbar detection, and static-screen detection help mitigate burn-in risk. Given this screen’s long burn-in warranty, I think it’s safe to say that OLED burn-in is pretty much a solved problem these days.

With RGB Stripe OLED sub-pixels, MSI’s new MPG 341CQR X36 monitor can deliver sharper text with no colour fringing. This is excellent news for anyone who uses their PC for applications that involve a lot of text. Clearer text means less eye strain and a better user experience.

DarkArmor Film

With their new “DarkArmor” film, MSI claims to have boosted pure black levels by up to 40%, significantly increasing contrast. Below, we can see a “current” QD-OLED compared to MSI’s 5th-gen QD-OLED. Not how much less the bright light source impacts the newer OLED panel.

Alongside deeper black levels, this new coating increases the screen’s surface hardness from 2H to 3H. This makes the screen 2.5x more scratch-resistant. Not only has MSI given its newer QD-OLED screens deeper blacks, but they have also made them harder.

With a 360 Hz maximum refresh rate and VESA ClearMR 13000 certification, this OLED display delivers exceptional motion clarity and responsiveness. The screen also supports DisplayPort 2.1, HDMI 2.1 (2x), and USB Type-C inputs, making it compatible with most modern devices. Additionally, its USB Type-C port can also supply up to 98 watts of power to connected devices. That’s great news for laptop users.
